UFVA Online Teaching Resources

Dear Members,

UFVA is responding to the current demands of transforming our courses to an online delivery model.  The move of our highly collaborative classes to an alternate delivery format to curb the spread of COVID-19, brings uncertainty about how to make that happen.  Applied and practical film, sound and media production courses, despite their reliance on technology, typically thrive in face to face instructional modalities.

In times of crisis communities come together to support one another, and our community is no different. Below are several useful resources to help you make the transition to online teaching:

Moving Production Courses Online

Crowdsourced document of resources, tools, and ideas

Shifting Film and Media Production Online for COVID-19 Facebook group

Online Art and Design Studio Instruction in an Era of "Social Distancing" Facebook group

How the hell do we do this? Teaching Visual Art Online Facebook group

EDIT Media (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Teaching Media) Facebook group

Teaching Media Facebook group

Broadcast Education Association Facebook group

Teaching in the context of COVID-19

We have created this forum to facilitate sharing of ideas, resources, tools, and questions.

Please share any successful strategies you have used or post your questions to the community here.

I am finding out that my students are quite shocked by this change. I was so busy worrying about how to get it right that I forgot how much support they may need for this kind of transition to be even moderately successful.

I want to be honest but not alarming. Any suggestions are welcome.
