The Media and Film Studies Program at Birmingham-Southern College seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in media production, beginning August 2020.  The successful applicant will teach a variety of video production and media studies classes, including introductory courses in media studies and video production, as well as screenwriting and advanced video production courses in cinematography, editing, and sound.  Candidates should exhibit potential for outstanding teaching and passion for helping students express themselves through narrative.  

The teaching load is three courses in the fall term, one course in the January term, and three courses in the spring term.  Tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in service to the College, including student advising, as well as maintain an agenda of scholarly or creative activities.  The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D., an M.F.A, or equivalent professional experience in media production.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in producing for film and television.
