Position Summary: Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Music Industries and Creative Audio Production. This is a joint appointment between the Department of Radio, Television and Digital Media (RTD) and the School of Music (SoM), with the tenure home in RTD. The selected individual will bridge and diversify the departments’ specializations in Radio and Audio Production within RTD and in the Music Business specialization in the SoM by teaching courses in both departments in their area of expertise and as needed, and by contributing to interdisciplinary efforts at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include: teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, including existing and/or newly developed courses; mentoring and advisement of undergraduate and graduate students, including service on graduate student research/creative activity committees; developing and maintaining a program of creative and scholarly research that includes exhibitions, screenings, or publications in peer-reviewed venues; and engaging in professional and service activities appropriate to academic rank.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must hold MFA, DMA or Doctoral Degree in media arts production or related field. Applicants holding a Master's degree in media arts production, music, or a related field, will be considered if they have five or more years of tested professional experience that includes, for example, peer-reviewed publications, peer reviewed or juried professional presentations, performances or recordings, honors, awards, and/or documented continuing education experiences.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with a focus in areas such as Music Publishing and Marketing, Artist Promotion and Management, Audio Engineering, or creative production in the recording arts, and to applicants with documented record of effective teaching and evidence of research/creative activities in music industries and audio production.
