In the Spotlight today is the 8th Annual Sun Valley Film Festival(SVFF), an event that attracts significant filmmaker exposure in a majestic mountain locale that is steeped in Hollywood history. SVFF welcomes more than 4,500 filmmakers and movie lovers to enjoy world premieres, networking dinners, unique forums, passionate discussions and lively parties. With a proven knack for drawing industry heavyweights and independent talents to an intimate setting far from the Hollywood scene, SVFF has become known as a 'festival for filmmakers' and is heralded as a rising star among destination film festivals. “It’s wonderfully intimate and remains very high end in both the quality of the films presented and the festival itself,” lauds actor/producer Kate Bosworth. "Sun Valley has kept its integrity…the magic dust."

The Festival's crown jewels are the standing-room-only Coffee Talks featuring established greats such as Oliver Stone, Jodie Foster, Bruce Dern and Kevin Smith; a Screenwriters Lab hosted by such decorated writers as Melisa Wallack and Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club), Mark Duplass (Togetherness), and Charles Randolph (The Big Short); and the SVFF Salon Series, informal talks with special guests including Academy Award winning screenwriter of Traffic, Stephen Gaghan, andSons of Anarchyshow creator, Kurt Sutter. As theHuffington Postnotes, "The Sun Valley Film Festival is young, with an attitude that is reflective of the city. The programming offers a preference for content over tinsel."

Filmmakers receive all access passes to the festival, which includes priority access to films, panels, special events, and parties, with qualifying feature filmmakers receiving lodging and a travel stipend. Idaho filmmakers will also have the opportunity to take home the Gem State Award, sponsored by Zions Bank with a $1,000 USD jury prize, or the 1 Potato Short Script Award, which comes with $5,000 towards producing the script in Idaho. Filmmakers of all genres around the world will also have the opportunity to compete for awards including an Audience Award, the Vision Award recognizing producers, and more.
