In the Spotlight today is the 26th Annual Austin Film Festival(AFF), known as "The Writer's Festival" for championing the importance of narrative at the core of filmmaking. In addition to over a dozen parties and over 150 film premieres, AFF hosts the world's largest Writers Conference open to all accepted filmmakers with panels, workshops, roundtables, and conversations featuring over 150 working film, television, and new media industry professionals. AFF is also proud to pave the way to Oscar gold for short films - the Festival is an Academy-qualifier for narrative, documentary and animated short films. Last year, the documentary shortHeaven is a Traffic Jam on the 405took home the Oscar after premiering and qualifying at AFF.

Along with excellent exposure comes the opportunity to take home a cash prize of up to $2,500 USD, travel and hotel reimbursement of up to $500, and AFF's famous bronze typewriter statue for winning filmmakers.
